About the project
Why Echoes Exists
Some experiences remain unspoken because people may not feel safe, comfortable, or confident sharing them.
Echoes provides a space where people can share their experiences without creating an account, helping transform individual experiences into a broader understanding of community concerns.
Discrimination — whether open or subtle — can affect people's wellbeing, their sense of belonging, and how fully they feel able to take part in their community. Echoes of Silence: From Discrimination to Inclusivity listens to those experiences so they can inform practical steps toward inclusion.
Project goals
- 01
Understand
Identify common experiences and patterns related to discrimination and exclusion.
- 02
Listen
Create an anonymous space where people can share their experiences and perspectives.
- 03
Learn
Analyse quantitative and qualitative responses to understand community concerns.
- 04
Improve
Use synthesised findings and community suggestions to support discussions with relevant stakeholders.
How responses are used
Reviewed by the project team only
Individual responses are only visible to authorised members of the project team. They are never published automatically.
Analysed together, not individually
Findings are reported as patterns and themes across many responses, not as individual stories that could identify someone.
Shared as aggregated findings
Summaries and community suggestions may be presented to relevant stakeholders to support discussion and improvement.
Alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals
Echoes is a small, community-level project. Its aims align with the following goals — it contributes to the conversation rather than claiming to achieve them.
SDG 3
Good Health and Well-Being
Discrimination can affect wellbeing and sense of belonging. Understanding these experiences supports healthier environments.
SDG 5
Gender Equality
Responses can surface gender-related exclusion and help inform more equitable practices.
SDG 10
Reduced Inequalities
Listening to people across backgrounds helps identify where inequalities are felt in everyday community life.
SDG 16
Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
Community suggestions can inform more responsive, inclusive policies and reporting processes.
